Florida Panthers on the Rise

Florida biologists have raised their Panther population estimates, offering hope that conservation efforts are working. The latest estimate of adult and sub-adult Panthers is 120 to 230, up from 100 to 180 in 2014. In the 1970’s and 1980’s, only 20 to 30 Panthers were believed to roam the state. The new population estimates were developed by the FWC in conjunction with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service using trail cameras, road mortality statistics and other data.
